Hamilton Mental Health Outreach (HMHO) provides a supportive and nurturing environment for persons with challenging mental illness. Our professional staff offer help to those we serve to meet their own goals for a satisfying life in our community. Our services include Intensive Case Management, Medication Management, an On-Site Psychiatrist, Leisure and Recreation Groups, Education, and Support Groups.

We are currently seeking an additional Psychiatrist to join our team to provide support to our clients and staff. The position will deliver direct and indirect services, providing general adult psychiatric services in a consultative and team-based approach serving clients attached to HMHO. Compensation will include sessional funding for indirect services. The commitment is for approximately one clinical session per week (approximately 3.5 hours).
This is a turnkey opportunity with HMHO providing all overhead and support services including EMR and billing for sessionals.

Key areas of focus:

This position will provide psychiatric consultation and ongoing care for clients of HMHO

  • This position will provide psychiatric education and support to a multi-disciplinary team in a collaborative care model

  • This position will require active collaboration with primary care providers and other partners in the community

  • There will be an expectation to provide crisis oriented consultations


  • FRCP(C) in Psychiatry and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

  • Expertise in the areas of Concurrent Disorders, Community Treatment Orders, and Schizophrenia preferred

Skills & Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team(s)

  • Commitment to community-based services, psychiatric rehabilitation, and recovery

  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity

  • Highly developed organizational, communication and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook and various database software

  • Police clearance (Vulnerable Sector Check)

Hours of work: 3.5 hours/week. Schedule to be determined based on organizational needs.
